Kazakhstan has a rich artistic heritage that has developed since ancient times. The country is home to internationally respected and admired artists and musicians, including:

Violin Prodigy Marat Bisengaliev

With an impressive library of recordings under the Sony EMI and Naxos labels, Marat Bisengalev has toured the globe as founder and soloist of the Kazakh Chamber Orchestra.

Composer Karl Jenkins

Composer Karl Jenkins composed a work based on Kazakh folk tunes, celebrating the capital city of Astana.

Pop Folk Band Urker

Urker, or “Constellation,” was the first Kazakh band to have a video shown on American television. Fronted by singer-songwriter Aidos Sagat, the pop folk band got its start in the city of Almaty in 1993. Urker has since released five albums and enjoys a broad national fan base that consists mostly, according to the band, of progressive and patriotic Kazakhstani youth from 20 to 40.

Contemporary Artist Saule Suleimenova

Kazakhstan’s own Saule Suleimenova has captured the imaginations of audiences internationally with her inventive wax engravings on paper.
