The Music of Ulytau

Ulytau, meaning "Big Mountain," is a popular instrumental folk metal band from Kazakhstan. Their unique fusion of folk melodies with rock-and-roll sounds is played on the violin, guitar and dombra (the Kazakh national instrument) without vocals. Their first album, Jhumyr-Kylysh, was released in Astana on February 16, 2006.
